Other than some vague impressions and odd bits of this and that, I remember my mother crying and shrieking and not being able to say what was wrong one day in November of 1963.
I was about three years old, so I know I had no idea what happened, but I do remember that, and, I didn't find out until maybe a dozen years later why she had been so upset. I just didn't make the connection between the historic event and her reaction.
And, considering that I do not remember even going to school before about the third grade, that memory indicates that the event made quite the impression on me.
