Forty years after U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon, many conspiracy theorists still insist the Apollo 11 moon landing was an elaborate hoax.

What are your thoughts on this?

There were multiple trips to the moon, and they would not be landing probes and even further planets if they did not gain the knowledge that they did from landing on the moon.

Was the landing a hoax? Maybe the first, purely to beat the Russians. However I am in agreement with @DaveM that the reason we may not have returned is because other life have claimed the moon and told us never to return or face some sort of consequence.

There were six manned landings on the moon, each of them for a matter of hours to plant flags and take samples.

There are plans to be back to the moon but for long periods of time .. Months and years but the capability for that is only becoming available now.

The moon could well become the launching pad to Mars

Of course. It has to be a hoax.

The legend says the US was capable of "landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth."

To admit that happened is to imply that the United States is an exceptional country capable of doing something nobody else has yet accomplished, and did so very nearly Fifty Years Ago!

Doing that just galls the hell out of some people, and they would rather entertain the overly complicated theories and indeed absolute fantasy that says otherwise.
