"Don’t forget your umbrellas this week, there’s going to be rain.

Last week’s heatwave will seem like a distant memory when it starts to pour down.

The showers will begin in the northern and western coastal fringes overnight, but tomorrow you can expect them in southern and western areas (including London), with some heavy falls predicted by the evening.

The heavy rain will spread north-east on Tuesday accompanied by a freshening breeze but there will also be showers in the south in the afternoon.

And on Wednesday there could be even more pain for those living in the south-east, with longer spells of rain predicted.

But don’t be too upset, it won’t be miserable all the time.

In between the rain there will be quite a few sunny spells across the country, with temperatures expected to hit a high of 23C in London on Wednesday.

‘It’s going to be a story of sunshine and showers as we look toward the first part of August,’ said BBC forecaster Sarah Keith-Lucas.

‘It looks like the driest of the weather will be rain the southern part of the country and temperatures, after the recent heat and humidity, should be around average.’"
