"A teenage girl was found dead just days after posting a haunting message online about the cyber bullying she was suffering.

Britney Mazzoncini has been described by her grieving grandmother as a ‘beautiful’ girl who was ‘loved by all’.

The 16-year-old died after she was rushed to hospital from her home in Glasgow, the Daily Record reported.

She had been tormented on social media by bullies, and complained about the abuse in a Facebook post days before her death.

She wrote: ‘Starting to get sick of wee lassies calling me a riddy and this and that.

‘As I’ve said, if you have a problem with me then delete me and if you’re being cheeky then you will just be blocked.

‘Really cannot be bothered with all the petty arguing. Just grow up man seriously and to all my fake pals commenting slagging me as well F*** YOU.’

The next day she added that she would not be using Facebook for a ‘few days’.

And last month, Britney posted: ‘Words do hurt people and people need to start to realise that before it’s too late.’

Her parents, Raymond Mazzoncini and Annette McKenzie, uploaded pictures of their daughter to pay tribute to her and have gone away to spend time on their own, according to Britney’s grandmother Agnes McKenzie.

Asked if bullying was involved in Britney’s death, Ms McKenzie said: ‘Of course there was.

Britney had ambitions of joining Police Scotland and was planning to apply to join the force after her 17th birthday in October.

Police said her death is not being treated as suspicious."

Please don't misunderstand me. This really is tragic and a life being extinguished because of some nobody(s) on the internet is heart breaking. However that being said, all she had to do was opt out.

Your thoughts?

I guess some people are so addicted to the internet that they don't feel they can just leave. Just log off and live your life.

I think the problem was she allowed those people to be the standard for what she was worth in life. That's the only explanation as to why she just didn't turn it off and do something else. When you put your worth in the hands of people, nothing good is going to come out of it.

In the article, the parents say that their daughter was loved by all but that obviously isn't true based on all the bullying she endured. I think that's also part of the problem is that the child wasn't prepared to endure the hate of others. She was allowed to live in a little bubble where she was universally loved which meant not having the strength to endure hate when it would and did come. You have to instill the belief that not everyone is going to like you and that people are simply going to dislike or even hate you so don't let them get to you as their opinions don't determine your worth so when you come across them then you should simply push them out of your life when you find them.
