(Reddit r/Books: Reading Frustrations)
Does anyone here get frustrated when reading? Let me explain. I was recommended the Hyperion series by a friend, but I couldn't get through the first chapter because it seemed like he regurgitated a textbook to sound smart. I tried reading the song of ice and fire series but the dialogue was so back and fourth it bothered me too much and I couldn't get into it. I realize I sound pretentious, and I don't mean to be. I'd like to enjoy a good story, but I get blocked by petty frustrations that remove my ability to enjoy it.
Does anyone have any insight into it? I used to read a lot, but now I seem too picky. I don't like it. (Reddit user thelionsmouth)
