"Italian officers found the kitten while on a training mission in the port of Marsala in Sicily after some children had alerted them to it in the water.
One of the crew immediately jumped in to retrieve the stricken animal but once it was on board it looked lifeless.
But, in a moment captured on video, coastguards then began to delicately resuscitate the kitten, first by giving it mouth-to-mouth and then CPR.
An officer is then heard saying: ‘She breaths, she breaths! Call the vet!”‘
The kitten is now said to be in good health and has been called Charlie by the crew."
