From the US I'd go to Canada because it's close and is very similar in culture so I won't feel as much culture shock or homesickness. But it also depends on why I was forced to leave the country forever. If it was war or something that could also threaten Canada eventually I'd move as far away as possible so...Australia maybe.

As tempted as I am to say Japan, I think Canada would be the practical choice.
