"Alexander Pieter Cirk met a woman online and really fell for her.

After two months chatting to his dream woman (identified only by her last name Zhang) Cirk decided he couldn’t wait any longer and had to meet her in real life.

The 41-year-old Dutchman flew almost 3,000 miles to Changsha Huanghua International Airport in China.

He waited for Zhang to meet him in the airport – for 10 days – but Zhang didn’t show up.

In fact, Cirk’s wait for his love interest would have been longer, but he was hospitalised for exhaustion after waiting inside the airport for over week.

Still single, Cirk returned to the Netherlands after he was discharged from hospital."

He can blame himself for all of this. He meets a woman online, falls for her and doesn't even know her full name and where she lives. And then goes there and sits in an airport for 10 days. I would think after an hour or two he should have gotten the hint that no one was showing up. Hope he's learned his lesson from all of this.
