YES, you are a private individual and you do have some right to control your personally identifiable information.

and


YES, you are using a business site that, as a matter of course, collects some personally identifiable information when you buy something from them or use their service.


and


Yes, your information is worth its weight in electrons to third party marketers who want to sell you even more goods and services.


and

Yes, your information, and for that matter, the information about the business in line two, and the marketer in line three, is worth even more to overseas, and, to be fair about it, locally operating, hackers and scammers who know ways to make money off all of the above without their ever knowing it happened until they get the bill.
