The pro side argues rising levels of atmospheric greenhouse gases are a direct result of human activities such as burning fossil fuels, and that these increases are causing significant and increasingly severe climate changes including global warming, loss of sea ice, sea level rise, stronger storms, and more droughts. They contend that immediate international action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is necessary to prevent dire climate changes.

The con side argues human-generated greenhouse gas emissions are too small to substantially change the earth’s climate and that the planet is capable of absorbing those increases. They contend that warming over the 20th century resulted primarily from natural processes such as fluctuations in the sun's heat and ocean currents. They say the theory of human-caused global climate change is based on questionable measurements, faulty climate models, and misleading science.

Debate Question: Is Human Activity Primarily Responsible for Global Climate Change?

I believe so, yes, given the research I've read about the past few decades and back far enough in comparison to a couple hundred years ago. From around the time the industrial revolution occurred, there have been some drastic changes in recorded data. And while many people think that climate change happens overnight, even within a year ("Oh, man, last year it was 97F in March, but this March it's still snowing--biggest blizzard of the year! Climate change can't exist!"), but that's not anywhere near true. Weather changes overnight. Weather changes over weeks and months but climate change happens over many, many years, over decades, over centuries. We may not be alive when the world starts to see some of the more devastating affects of our contributions.

When the administrators of the UN committee rejected ocean floor core samples and other data that did not support their conclusion.... they 'jumped the shark'.

And they continue to do so.

Like the last report that talked about how the Antarctic ice pack had reclaimed all it had previously lost and was at historic record levels, that was simply buried.

Not to mention how there is still snow on Kilimanjaro, in spite of predictions otherwise.

Global warming has been proven over and over to be faked by the so called experts in scandal after scandal. This is about power over the people.

"Do as I say. NOT as I do."

Guests Will Fly Halfway Around the World for DiCaprio Climate Change Speech
Leonardo DiCaprio is a leading Hollywood advocate for fighting global warming. Or, at least, he says he is.

The reason for doubt is that the clueless Mr. DiCaprio is sublimely oblivious to the obvious. To wit: Mr. DiCaprio and most of his 500 guests will fly 12,000 miles to a gala for his foundation later this month in the French resort of St. Tropez. Since most of the attendees will be coming from Los Angeles, that means that a private jet making that trip will dump 86 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
