Members of Cuba’s national volleyball team have been detained in relation to a reported rape.
Police say that eight members of Cuba’s national men’s volleyball team are in custody on suspicion of aggravated rape.
The Cuban team was playing in a volleyball tournament in Tampere, south Finland, where they lost 3-1 against Finland on Saturday.
Local media reported the Cuban side played without three of their players.
Central Finland regional police say three players were detained in the city of Tampere on Saturday, and were arrests were ordered.
Later, police said that five others were detained on Sunday.
The players in qiestioned have not been identified and officers haven’t said where or when the alleged rape occurred.
No further details have been provided by police at this stage.
