A hot air balloon carrying 16 people has crashed in Texas, killing everyone on board, local media says.

The balloon came down near Lockhart, south of Austin, after it caught fire.

Local reports suggest that there are no survivors, though this has not yet been confirmed.

‘DPS confirms fatalities after a hot air balloon crash this morning on 796 Jolly Road in Caldwell County,’ Lee wrote on Twitter.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the balloon went down in a field at around 7.40am local time.

Well I have never had a chance to do something like that but I did enjoy going up with my brother in his microlight and when you think about it that is a kite with a motor, so I suppose it depends on what you feel is safe and what not. This is however a very sad event to hear about. :(

Very sad there were no survivors.
It's not something I would fancy doing.
